PRIMARY FUNCTION:
• Primary role of the position is as one of the industrialization engineers, working with high-impact supplier programs
• Provide industrialization support for new product development with our Chinese suppliers as well as resourcing of components and materials to Asian sources.
• Projects that would be undertaken potentially include sourcing, re-sourcing from existing suppliers, outsourcing from Eaton manufacturing facilities to suppliers, as well as new product development projects, all of which would be in collaboration with the appropriate Eaton Operations.
• The position serves as a critical resource to work with supplier to project manage the execution of an award, which invariably includes some form of supplier development activity.
• Responsibility for the actual contract and purchase order placement would remain with the Eaton operational business unit awarding the business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Limit yourself to 8-12 statements)
A. Applies appropriate technology and project management concepts to effectively manage complex sourcing projects for Eaton Electric Business Unit.
B. Participates in cross-functional teams involving the suppliers and Eaton functions to run APQP/ PPAP/ FAI, and implement sourcing projects post award.
C. Assists in defining and implementing supplier development activities.
D. Interface between the suppliers in the country / region of activity and Eaton operations in the USA and Europe, to ensure that engineering and manufacturing quality and compliance with Eaton required standards is assured.
E. Conducts basic problem solving and root cause analysis activities in order to eliminate recurrence of non-conformities, utilizing a formal and predefined process.
DIMENSIONS:
• Position will have a major impact of production and manufacturing costs at operational level through the cost reductions that would be sought through the transfer of sourcing / manufacturing from suppliers and / or Eaton manufacturing sites in relatively ‘high’ cost countries versus sourcing to a supply base in lower cost countries, ie, Central & Eastern Europe.
• Evidence suggests that cost of purchases transferred into India should reduce by 20%+.
• In the event that projects relate to outsourcing, potential also exists for Eaton to de-capitalize through the ‘sale’ of capital equipment as part of the project.
